PINE: Pinus sylvestris – The Self-Acceptance Flower

From Self-negation to Self-respect.

For those who blame themselves. Even when successful they think they could have done better, and are never content with their efforts or results……Dr Edward Bach.

In the Negative:
Pine relates to the Soul quality of self-acceptance. If you’re in a negative Pine state, you’ll put yourself down due to inappropriate feelings of guilt. The scale of self-accusations vary from mild to severe, from upbraiding oneself for not greeting your neighbour in a friendly way, to feeling remorse for eating meat, to original sin.
In a Negative Pine state one is ready to assume the blame for others mistakes, will apologise for being ill or overworked. These feelings can have roots in childhood family dynamics where blame, shame and guilt can have a long term harmful effect and undermine one’s sense of self even when there is no valid reason.
In extreme cases, a person in a Negative Pine state have an almost masochistic desire to sacrifice and punish themselves for years, by unconsciously choosing a brutal partner.
Children in this state tend to become scapegoats in class and take punishment for misdeeds they haven’t done.
In the Positive:
Taking Pine can free us from feeling tied down by feelings of unnecessary guilt.
People who have opened up to the positive potential of Pine have found self-respect after a long journey of getting to know themselves and being responsible for themselves. It has the potential to release inappropriate guilt and self-recriminations. It will reconnect one to a sense of contentment and joy from within. It is a valuable remedy in cases of abortion, plus psychotherapy treatment, and in cases of child abuse.
